Ursa Minor is a notable constellation as it holds the star Polaris, also known as The North Star. It was first catalogued by Ptolemy in the second century, but is believed to be created by Thales of Miletus. Thales of Miletus was a philosopher and astronomer of Ancient Greece and lived from 625 to 545 B.C. According to Greek myth Ursa Minor is the nymph Callisto turned into a bear by Hera.
