Cancer is the faintest of the 12 zodiac constellations, and was first catalogued by Ptolemy in the 2nd century, It neighbors Canis Minor, but belongs to the Zodiac family of constellations. According to myth, Cancer became a constellation after trying to distract Hercules during his battle with the Hydra. Hercules became annoyed with the crab, and kicked him into the stars.
